That Guy's the Rival (あいつがライバルだ, Aitsu ga Raibaru da^?) is the 5th episode of Madan Senki Ryukendo.

Synopsis

At night, a mysterious full moon appears to talk to a couple and asks about S.H.O.T. Kenji is getting bored with not having a case and continues to see Komachi. GekiRyuKen finally explains that only they can see her. In the city, the mysterious man is revealed to be Jack Moon, a Jamanga General. Komachi warns Kenji about Jack Moon but he is excited at the prospect of fighting him. Jack Moon captures several people, including Ichiko and Ritsuko. RyuKenDo battles Jack Moon but is outmatched. Komachi helps him save the people but it takes the added strength of RyuGunOu to push Jack Moon back. Kenji realizes that he can't do everything alone and summons Brave Leon to help RyuGunOu. Jack Moon is eventually driven back, but he promises to return. Kenji later learns that Komachi was a police officer... almost 100 years ago.

Plot

One particular night in Akebono City, there was a full moon, with civilians admiring the unique phenomenon that is happening. Suddenly, the moon laughs and move closer to the shop owner couple that selling croquet asking details about S.H.O.T and got a reply that it is part of the police force that is specialized in fighting demons. The moon leaves after getting a reply, leaving the couple fainted from the scare. Back in S.H.O.T's base, Rin slammed the table to wake Kenji up from sleeping and commented that he should not sleep on duty. Kenji replied that he is getting bored with not having a case. Kenji wishes for a powerful enemy to appear to fight as he is very confident that with Fire Mode and Aqua Mode, together with JuuOh, he will not lose. Rin decided to ask Kenji return back to Akebono Police Station and do his job there since he is too free.

At Akebono Police Station, Kenji saw the shop owner reporting a case about seeing the moon talking but get brushed off by Ritsuko that he is drunk. Komachi appears and tells Kenji that she thinks its related to the demons. Kenji is surprised by the appearance of Komachi and asked Ichiko and Ritsuko to introduced her to him. All of them ignored Kenji as they are not able to see Komachi. GekiRyuKen decided to tell Kenji that only both of them can see Komachi. Komachi introduces herself to Kenji. Suddenly, Rin appears and pull Kenji's ear for slacking again but senses something is here. Yukimura, Tsukioka, Hanada, together with Rin, Ichiko and Ritsuko started smelling around the Police Station.

Somewhere on the street, a moon is seen chasing after a policeman. The mysterious moon is revealed to be Jack Moon, a Jamanga General asking for details on S.H.O.T. After failing to get a reply, Jack Moon takes out a glass orb and captures the policeman, leaving the scene in his moon form after that. In Akebono Police Station, the captured policeman is revealed to be Kobashiri as Hanada and Tsukioka are reporting to Yukimura on his disappearance. Komachi appears at a corner and asking Kenji to come over. Komachi tells Kenji that an unbelievably powerful enemy is after him, asking Kenji to be careful. Meanwhile, Yukimura, Tsukioka, Hanada, Ichiko, Ritsuko and Rin is seen looking at Kenji talking to himself, with Rin commenting that this is definitely suspicious. Back in Jamanga's base, Doctor Worm is asking Jack Moon if he is going out again to collect information on S.H.O.T. The two Jamanga generals have different opinions with Jack Moon leaves after that. Jack Moon is seen pointing his sword at Hanada, Tsukioka and Yukimura. Hanada decided to sacrifice himself by hugging Jack Moon, asking Tuskioka and Yukimura to run. Hanada eventually got captured into the glass orb by Jack Moon after that.

In S.H.O.T's base, Amachi is briefing Kenji and Fudou that the Jamanga is after S.H.O.T's information. Kenji requested to handle Jack Moon by himself to Amachi and leaves the base. Komachi appears on the bridge to stop Kenji from fighting Jack Moon. Somewhere near the bridge, Ichiko and Ritsuko are seen shooting Jack Moon, but it seems Jack Moon is able to endure against bullets. Kenji decided to transform into RyuKenDo, ignoring Komachi's advice. RyuKenDo appears and asked Jack Moon to stop after the latter captured Ichiko and Ritsuko into the glass orb. Jack Moon started fighting RyuKenDo and it seems to be able to counter all RyuKenDo's attacks. GekiRyuKen reminded RyuKenDo that if the glass orb Jack Moon is holding breaks, all the captured people will die. RyuKenDo uses Knuckle Spark by summoning Madan Knuckle but the attack is stopped by Jack Moon. Jack Moon landed a direct hit on RyuKenDo after the latter is showing an opening. GekiRyuKen advises RyuKenDo to counter Jack Moon in Fire Mode but is stopped by Jack Moon before he can change mode. After few tries, RyuKenDo still unable to change mode due to Jack Moon's interference. Jack Moon is disappointed at RyuKenDo and wanted him to amuse him more. Jack Moon decided to fight RyuKenDo using two hands, hence throwing away the glass orb he is holding on. RyuKenDo notices and went to catch the glass orb. RyuKenDo seem to have missed the catching of glass orb, but it is caught by Komachi.

Jack Moon is surprised at the action of how RyuKenDo catches the glass orb eventually when he missed initially. Before he can find out, Jack Moon got shot by RyuGunOu riding his wolf bike. Jack Moon decided to create a magic dimension portal and flee. RyuGunOu decided to chases after Jack Moon. RyuKenDo places down the glass orb and commented that he is a big stubborn fool, almost causing everyone to die because of his action and thanks Komachi for helping him. Komachi is pleased and leaves. RyuKenDo summons Brave Leon to chase after Jack Moon too. RyuGunOu continues his fight with Jack Moon and uses Knuckle Spark on Jack Moon but get countered again. Jack Moon brushed away GouRyuGun and pointed his sword at RyuGunOu but get stopped by RyuKenDo. Jack Moon let go of RyuGunOu and unleashes a few attacks at RyuKenDo. RyuKenDo dodges the attacks and have a moment of sudden inspiration, decided to combine all powers from GekiRyuKen, Brave Leon and his own into his Trinity Attack. RyuKenDo activates his Final Break finishing move and attacks Jack Moon. Jack Moon got driven back by this attack, causing the ground to crack. RyuKenDo collapse on the ground due to fatigue with RyuGunOu appears in front of him to block Jack Moon.

Jack Moon decided to leave, asking RyuGunOu to leave a message for RyuKenDo that they will meet again. As Jack Moon leaves, this causes the magic dimension to be unstable and return the Madan Warriors back to the warehouse. The glass orb suddenly glows and returns the releases the captured people before shattering. At Jamanga's base, Doctor Worm questioned Jack Moon why he didn't finish the Madan Warriors and got a reply that it's because of swordsman esthetics. Jack Moon feels that RyuKenDo will becoming stronger and wanted to defeat him when he becomes a full fledge swordsman. Back at Akebono Police Station, Kenji is seen tidying up the cabinets as punishment for disobeying orders. Kenji knocked down a box of documents as he is tidying up. Rin went to help pick up the documents, together with Kenji. Kenji picks up a book and saw the content that Komachi was Head Patrol Officer, Japan's First Head of Investigation during Meiji Year 30 which is almost 100 years ago. Komachi appears in her Police uniform that she wears and confirms with Kenji that she is a spirit also known as a ghost, causing Kenji to be surprised, with Rin commenting that there is something definitely suspicious with Kenji. Yukimura, Tsukioka and Hanada also appears and started smelling the area.

At the roof of Akebono Police Station, Komachi tells Kenji that she has used too much spiritual energy this time, hence she won't be doing much for now. Kenji asked Komachi why she helped him, Komachi replied that Kenji said she is pretty, so she wanted to thank him for that. Komachi flicks her finger at Kenji's forehead and wanted Kenji to grow up quickly. Kenji tells Komachi that he will do his best, with Rin observing them far away and having Yukimura, Tsukioka and Hanada adding Kenji's action are definitely very suspicious, causing Rin to leave immediately. Kenji pointed his finger at the moon, telling Jack Moon next time he will definitely defeat him.
